Competitive Classes

  • All students 8 years of age & up interested in doing competition work must be enrolled in at least 1 ballet technique class per week. This rule stands for all solo, duet, trio, groups, lines or production entries.
  • Forms for competition in our local dance festival are distributed to all students, 8 years and over, in the fall. Those interested in doing solo, duet, or trio work should complete and return same to the Artistic Director forthwith.
  • Private lessons are required for such competition work. These are limited and are on a first come, first-serve basis. An instructor and studio fee is charged for private lessons and is payable at the commencement of private lessons.
  • Costumes are required for all dance numbers being entered in the dance festival, and are the responsibility of the parent and/or student to purchase.
  • Entry fees are also payable to the dance festival committee for all dance numbers entered in the competition, and are payable by the candidate.
  • Classes entered in competition are at the discretion of the teacher. Parents will be notified by the month of December or January if their child’s class will be participating in our local dance festival.
  • All competition students, in fairness to the class, must adhere to a strong commitment and strict attendance of classes. Should a student miss classes on a regular basis, which would affect the standard of the class, the student will be removed from the competition at the discretion of the Artistic Director without reimbursement of fees paid or costumes purchased.
